-Hardcover Book Happy Owl-Oween! By: Laura Gehl
-For One sensory tray
-20oz of varied colored beans and star confetti
-Several Halloween-themed manipulatives of varying sizes and textures to use in the rice bin that correlate to the story. Use for counting, sorting, hiding, playing "what's missing" and for just having fun! (Pieces may differ from picture.)
-1 wooden scooper and one fun hand tongs
Sensory play can help children learn new vocabulary and enhance their language skills, it can also help them develop cognitive skills, problem solving skills and the ability to complete tasks. Sensory play also promotes curiosity, creativity and can helps meet sensory needs, in turn, helping children to calm their bodies.
Some suggestions: Read the book with your child, talk about the pictures and things you see. Ask them if they think they know what is going to happen next. Track the words while you read by pointing to them with your finger as you read. Then, use the vocabulary in the book to talk about what you see in the fun jar! Pour in the pieces after adding rice to the tray and let their imagination take over!
